OUR PRACTICE

CHILDREN HOLD ENDLESS POTENTIAL.

We feel it is our job to help your children realize theirs by becoming your partner in their growth and development.  In doing so, we hope to become more than just another doctor.

In addition to holistic medical care, we can help navigate the many issues surrounding the healthy development of children today including toxic exposures, complex medical systems, educational challenges and the nutritional deficiencies of our current food supply.

As parents, we understand you are often overwhelmed by both the breadth and volume of conflicting pediatric health information available today. We can help you make the decisions that are best for your particular needs. Our practice strives to provide an entirely new experience in Pediatric medical care. This website is intended to give you an introduction to the people, philosophies and treatments which make us unique.

What is integrative medicine?

Integrative is a term that describes physicians who utilize mainstream medical nutritional and complementary medicine. Depending on the child’s individual needs, Dr. Carine utilizes both nutritional supplements and pharmaceuticals in the management of her children.

What is Osteopathic Medicine?

Doctors of Osteopathic medicine (D.O.) are fully licensed physicians, in America.  Performing surgery, medicine, and more they practice alongside their Medical Doctor (M.D.) counterparts with equal privileges.  During their medical school training, which is equivalent in duration and complexity to M.D.’s, D.O.’s are taught a philosophy of medicine that is holistic and looks at the relationship of structure and function.

“Medical Home” is a term being used by our health care system to describe physicians that desire to provide one office that is aware of all that is going on with a particular patient.  Whenever needed, she will coordinate care with other practitioners, such as sub-specialist, therapists and alternative medical providers.  We hope that this will lesson trips to the ER and main hospital, giving parents a better understanding of how all the problems their children face interact with one another in a holistic manner.

Physician specialties are determined by what board certifications they hold.  Board certifications are acquired through extensive qualifications and testing that has to be repeated throughout their career to ensure that the physician is staying current with their specialty advances.

Dr. Carine holds two board certifications; primary care physicians routinely only carry one.  She is, of course, certified in Pediatrics.  She is also certified in Neuromuscular and Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine (NMM/OMM). This demonstrates an advanced knowledge of osteopathic treatments and muscular skeletal injuries.  Therefore, she performs osteopathic treatments when needed for the children in her practice.

Dr. Carine has also sought further training in the management of autistic children through the Autism Research Institute.  Many would refer to her as a DAN! (Defeat Autism Now!) physician.  This group educates physicians on the nutritional and medical management of autistic children.  Dr. Carine has applied this knowledge to the preventative management of all her patients; we hope this will help our patients develop optimally.

Dr. Carine, due to her extensive training and diversified background, is well respected among her peers nationally.  She speaks regularly at national meetings, participates in leadership in her profession, and contributes to professional publications.  But most important to her is the relationship she builds with her families and watching the children rise to their potential.
